Cycle to Work Schemes

Cycle to work

Ride now, pay through your salary

Cycle to work schemes let you get a new bike and kit through your employer and pay for it from your gross salary over the hire period. Because you pay before tax and National Insurance, you typically save between about a quarter and almost half of the price. We accept vouchers from all the major schemes, and we'll guide you from first chat to collection day.

Your journey

From first visit to first ride

Here's how a cycle to work purchase works at The Cycle Collective, step by step.

  1. You and us

    Book an appointment

Call, email or drop in to book a time with our team in Dorking. We'll talk through how you ride, what you need and your budget, and check which scheme your employer uses.

  2. You

    Choose your bike and kit

Try bikes in store, get the right size and pick any accessories you want included, such as helmet, lights, lock, pedals or clothing. A bike fit can be added too.

  3. Us

    Get your quote

We'll send a written quote with every item and the total, plus our store details for your scheme application. Your package value is the amount you apply for.

  4. You, your employer and the scheme

    Voucher issued

Apply through your employer's scheme using our quote. Once your employer approves it, the scheme provider issues your voucher or certificate. Send it to us or bring it in.

  5. Us, then you

    Collect your bike

When we've received and verified your voucher, we'll order anything not in stock, then build, check and set up your bike. We'll arrange a collection time, fit everything to you and send you off riding.

Questions

Cycle to work FAQs

Who can use a cycle to work scheme?

You need to be employed by an organisation that runs a scheme and paid through PAYE. Your salary after the sacrifice must not fall below the National Minimum Wage. Some employers have length-of-service or contract rules, so check with HR.

Is there a spending limit?

There's no longer a fixed government cap. Many schemes have no upper limit, but your employer can set its own maximum. Your quote must be within what your employer approves.

Can I include accessories and clothing?

Yes. Schemes cover safety equipment and accessories bought with the bike, such as helmets, lights, locks, pedals, mudguards and bags. Some schemes also allow clothing and shoes. We'll check your scheme's rules when we quote.

Can I get an e-bike?

Yes, as long as it's a legal electrically assisted pedal cycle in the UK (motor up to 250W, assistance cutting out at 15.5mph). Higher-value e-bikes may need an employer with a scheme or limit that covers them.

What if my voucher is less than the bike I want?

Your voucher has to cover the full package, so we quote first and you apply for that amount. If you change your mind afterwards, speak to us before your voucher is issued so we can update the quote.

When do I own the bike?

During the scheme you hire the bike from your employer or the provider. At the end, most schemes offer a way to take ownership, sometimes for a small fee or after an extended loan period. The details depend on your scheme.

Terms and conditions apply

Cycle to work terms

  1. Cycle to work purchases are subject to your employer taking part in an eligible scheme, your employer's approval and the scheme provider's own terms and conditions.
  2. We accept vouchers and certificates from Green Commute Initiative, gogeta, Cycle Solutions, Cyclescheme, Bike2Work Scheme, Halfords Cycle2Work and Vivup. We can't accept vouchers from other providers unless we've agreed to in advance.
  3. Your voucher must cover the full value of the quoted package. Vouchers can't be exchanged for cash, and we can't give change or credit for unused value.
  4. Goods are released only once we've received your voucher or certificate and the scheme provider has verified it. We may need to order items that aren't in stock, and lead times depend on the brand's availability.
  5. The bike and kit you collect must match the items on the approved quote. Changes after your voucher is issued may need a new application through your scheme.
  6. Returns, exchanges and warranty claims follow our standard returns policy and the scheme provider's rules. Some scheme purchases can't be refunded as cash.
  7. Savings shown on this page and in our calculator are estimates based on 2026/27 tax and National Insurance rates. They're not financial or tax advice, and your actual saving depends on your personal circumstances and your scheme.
  8. Prices and availability can change until your quote is confirmed. We reserve the right to decline a cycle to work order.
